Located in the heart of Emsworth, West Sussex, Ferndale is a three-storey Victorian house dedicated to providing dementia-focused care.
While fully modernised to meet the needs of our residents, it retains all its cosy, original charm.
Just a mile from both the seafront and the town centre's amenities, Ferndale is more than a care home; it's a friendly, thriving community hub. Residents, their loved ones, and staff - sometimes even their pets! - enjoy spending time together in this genuinely welcoming environment.

Residential Dementia Care
Our dedicated care professionals are specially trained in providing expert, compassionate dementia care. In the cosy, homely surroundings of Ferndale, they cater to all our residents’ physical, emotional, and cognitive needs.
Services provided include help with day-to-day activities, medication monitoring, and memory care programs. That’s all accompanied by tailored social and recreational activities and genuine friendship to enhance quality of life and well-being.
Palliative Dementia Care
As dementia advances into its final stages, specialist care that maintains a resident’s dignity while keeping them comfortable and content becomes even more important. The care professionals at Ferndale can offer precisely that, while also supporting family members who can once again become loved ones and not carers themselves.
The team at Ferndale will assist with managing symptoms and easing pain and distress, while also listening and responding to each resident’s spiritual and emotional needs.

My mum has been a resident since 2021 and has settled in well and is very happy and contented. The manager and all the workers are caring and really lovely towards her. They encourage Mum to make decisions and to participate in the daily activities that Ferndale put on for the benefit of the residents. Mum particularly likes the keep fit sessions. All of Mum’s needs are catered for including a hairdresser, optician, dentist and chiropodist. My mum is safe and well cared for and I am kept abreast of how Mum is doing at every stage.

Mum is very well looked after by the staff. The doctor was called when needed and ongoing care taken forward until the condition cleared up. Communication is good. The staff are very caring and if a problem is brought up, it is dealt with. The residents are given a choice of food and it all looks very nutritious. Care was taken during the summer with the heat. Plenty of activities are on offer in house as well as trips out.

Mum has now been a resident for 2 1/2 years. She is very happy and well cared for by the lovely caring staff. They have made Christmas very special for the residents once again. Activities and trips out are enjoyable. Ferndale is a very homely loving environment. Meals are all home cooked with fresh ingredients. Mum is at home there and safe, loves the staff.

Our team at Ferndale combines experience, specialised training, and a fun-loving attitude.
With over 30 years of experience in the care sector, Emma brings a wealth of knowledge and a deeply personal commitment to her role as Home Manager at Ferndale. She is highly qualified, holding a Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health & Social Care, and has a particular passion for dementia care.
Having previously managed large-scale premium services, Emma joined the Ferndale family to focus on delivering high-quality, person-centred support in a more intimate, community-focused setting. For Emma, care is about more than just safety; it’s about enriching the lives of our residents every day and ensuring Ferndale feels like home from the moment they arrive.
As the owner of Ferndale and The Oaks, I am deeply committed to fostering an environment where outstanding care is delivered with a truly personal touch. With a decade of experience in the care sector, my vision is rooted in a “home-from-home” philosophy - moving away from large, clinical institutions in favour of warm, comfortable settings where residents feel an immediate sense of belonging. I take immense pride in the specialist support my teams provide, particularly for those living with dementia.
Having seen first-hand the challenges many local families face when struggling at home, I am dedicated to ensuring my care homes offer the professional expertise and compassionate relief they need. For me, the greatest reward is seeing the positive impact my dedicated staff make on the lives of Emsworth families every single day.
